Mattei ERC 507L — Maintenance and repair log

Dated service, repairs and fault reports for the Mattei ERC 507L air compressor. Routine operation and shutdown instructions are on the machine page. A reported restart establishes restored operation at that time; it does not establish that the underlying fault was permanently repaired.

Compressor serial: SN: B2908BR-2005. Current oil: Rotoroil F2. Service is normally performed about annually by Aircenter AB, formerly Kista Kompressorservice. The January 2022 report recommended a 2,500-running-hour service interval and recorded 44,152 hours; that reading is historical.

Work or observation

Outcome / source

14 October 2026

Compressor found stopped with HIGH TEMP illuminated after the Redsail would not fire. It had cooled; a maintainer advised restart and checking every room for air leaks.

Compressor restarted and laser worked. Airflow was heard in the blasting room; other rooms were checked. The cause of overheating was not established. Slack thread.

11 August 2026

Discussion of blasting demand cited compressor output of 1,380 L/min; oversized blast nozzles can exhaust the shared supply.

Usage/capacity observation, not a compressor repair or new flow measurement. Slack.

31 May 2026

Overheating reported after about 30 minutes of blasting. Increasing the room ventilation fan speed was proposed. A portable fan was photographed as a temporary measure.

No permanent ventilation repair confirmed in the thread. The MD20's separate srv reminder was also reported; dryer service completion was not recorded. Slack.

24–26 May 2026

High-temperature trip during heavy air demand; logged compressor-room temperature rose to about 40°C before shutdown.

Fan temperature control was available but still awaiting installation in this discussion. Slack. Temperature record.

14 April 2026

Heat press had no air; compressor had stopped. Intermittent unexplained shutdowns were acknowledged.

Restart approved by a maintainer and supply restored. Cause not recorded. Slack.

7 February 2026

No pressure prevented laser operation.

Compressor restarted; air pressure and cutting restored. Shutdown cause not recorded. Slack.

14 October 2025

Low air pressure prevented the Redsail air-assist valve from opening; HIGH TEMP and TRIP RESET indications were reported.

Compressor was cold, then reset and restarted following maintainer advice. Slack.

29 May 2025

Low air pressure and a red fault indication reported.

Maintainers advised reset/start and suspected a warm room. The laser channel subsequently reported a temperature trip and restored operation. Both receivers were confirmed replaced by this date. General thread. Laser restart report.

April 2025

Timer-controlled condensate drain on the cyclone filter at the compressor outlet replaced.

Replacement photograph and label details below. This is separate from the timed drain on the receiver tank.

20–21 February 2025

Annual service by Aircenter AB: warranty kits C and A; oil changed to Rotoroil F2. No air in the wood and metal rooms was reported the following day.

Invoice history supplies the service work; Slack dates the visit to 20 February and records a restart on 21 February. The cause of the interruption was not recorded.

14 February 2025

Compressor emergency-stopped while running because a heat-press fitting leaked. Oil contamination of the intake filter was a concern.

Maintainer approved a restart pending the already planned annual service. Heat-press fitting was subsequently repaired. This case-specific advice is not a general instruction to reset faults. Slack.

January 2025

Cover intake valve and water separator replaced.

Invoice history; exact component part numbers were not supplied.

October–November 2024

Compressor and associated equipment relocated to the building's former compressor room.

Earlier equipment records give 30 October for the system move and 30 November for the individual machines; a 27 November thread confirms air was restored by reopening the outlet valve beside the dryer. Exact move day remains uncertain. Slack.

17 October 2024

Compressor ran briefly without increasing pressure; abnormal sound reported.

Air was restored later that evening. Repair/cause unconfirmed; advice was not to keep trying an abnormal start. Slack.

September 2024

New air receiver and Sepremium oil/water separator installed.

Installed in September; receiver inspection was recorded separately on 1 December 2024.

4 August 2024

Oil/water downstream of filters discussed with Aircenter. A failed cyclone condensate drain was suspected; pressure-sensing changes and a replacement receiver were proposed.

Discussion does not confirm drain repair or installation. Slack.

15–16 June 2024

Compressor continued running after reaching pressure. Cleaning a passage that had clogged before did not solve it; pressure-sensing fault suspected.

Working again on 16 June; actual repair not recorded. Slack.

March 2024

Annual service by Aircenter AB using warranty kits A and B.

Invoice history; individual tasks and kit contents were not supplied.

30 January 2024

Compressor failed to restart; rust blocking a pressure-sensing passage and possible fuse trouble were discussed.

Inspection/service suggested. No specific completed repair confirmed in the thread. Slack.

March 2023

Annual service by Aircenter AB using warranty kit A; oil filter Mattei CR21E20097 and Rotoroil F2 oil changed.

Invoice history.

May 2022

New Mattei MD20 and FM-0018 (C2) oil/particle filter delivered. A condensate drainer was replaced later that month.

Invoice history. The FM-0018 (C2) is between the receiver and dryer. The specific May 2022 drainer was not identified; this is a separate event from April 2025.

January 2022

Annual service using service kits A and B. Oil, 82°C thermostat, oil strainer, and oil, air and separator filters changed.

Invoice history records 44,152 running hours and a recommended service interval of 2,500 hours.

January 2021

Annual service: oil filter and Rotoroil F2 oil changed; IS31A32358 claw coupling between the motor and compressor block replaced.

Invoice history.

July 2020

Annual service using service kit A, oil filter, O-rings and oil. The work specification lists oil, oil filter, air filter and oil-return valve changes.

Oil, filters and oil-return valve renewed.

10 November 2019

Ran continuously despite AUTO being selected.

Normal STOP/ARRESTO and restart restored stopping at 7.5 bar.

17 May 2019

Failed to start automatically.

Normal stop/restart restored operation.

18 January 2016

System connected and commissioned.

Recorded in the original equipment history.

15 January 2016

Inspected by Kista Kompressorservice. Emergency stopping had contaminated the air filter with oil.

New air filter required; no other service needed at that inspection.

11 January 2016

Compressor moved into the Makerspace storage room.

Earlier location, before the 2024 relocation.

The invoices use both service kit and warranty kit. These may be the same A/B/C kits under the former Kista Kompressorservice and current Aircenter names. Confirm kit contents with Aircenter when ordering.

Follow-up work and documentation

  • Establish and record the cause of recurring temperature trips; confirm whether permanent fan temperature control has since been installed.

  • Check for leaks and excessive continuous demand across all rooms, and verify compressor cooling, dryer airflow and condensate drainage.

  • Record the latest meter reading and next service due date, using the usual annual visits and the 2,500-hour interval recommended in January 2022. Keep invoices and service reports with the log.

  • Record whether the April 2025 cyclone-drain replacement resolved downstream oil/water carryover, and confirm the outcome of the pressure-sensing problems. The replacement is confirmed; its effect on those earlier symptoms is not.

  • Obtain the exact operating manual and electrical drawing for serial B2908BR-2005. Check the product code directly on the plate before ordering parts; its O/0 characters are ambiguous in the photograph.

Earlier installation

The compressor was originally installed in the same room that later became the Makerspace's compressor room, next to the storage room. For several years, this room was used as THINGS storage, before Makerspace was able to lease it.

Makerspace took over the compressor in exchange for clearing the room and dismantling the remaining installation. After being relocated within the Makerspace, the compressor returned to this room in 2024.
