Lasers — Open questions
Open questions for the laser equipment. Confirmed information belongs on the relevant machine page; dated issues and repairs belong in its maintenance child page. These are checks to complete locally, not an invitation to guess from another laser's setup.
Laser cutter and engraver — xTool S1 (40 W)
Confirm the installed module: 40 W blue-diode module, stated by a member on 14 October 2026.
Record the machine/module labels, model identifiers and serial numbers; add current photographs of the actual S1 and workstation. The existing reference photo depicts a 10 W module.
Confirm the current S1 introduction and permission process with Alex Lopez, and add the applicable online course/quiz when available. The latest local course referral is September 2026; do not assume the Redsail course alone authorizes S1 use.
Label and photograph the exact ventilation controls. The 5 October 2026 instruction requires Redsail ventilation plus a black fan box beneath the table, described ambiguously as “there's two, one from the right”. Document startup, correct fan/gate selection, airflow checks and shutdown.
Verify the shared ventilation and simultaneous-use arrangement. Retain the conditional instruction to switch off the xTool power strip if Redsail's red beacon blinks; record any completed remedy and test rather than assuming the May 2026 warning has expired.
Confirm how S1 reservations map to the current laser booking portal, and document current fees/payment and any required usage logging. January's shared S1/Redsail booking guidance predates the new portal; the January/February pricing discussion was unresolved.
Record the actual support/slats/honeycomb, protective backing and allowable material heights. Verify any damage from the 18 December 2025 backing-mark report and the present condition.
Identify the installed air-assist pump, connections and approved knob/AUTO settings for the current software. Confirm that its airflow is independent of exhaust operation.
Document the installed workstation, xTool Studio/XCS version, connection method and S1/40 W device profile. Verify any approved LightBurn configuration separately, including focus/offset and air-assist behavior.
Publish the S1-specific approved-material and tested-settings table: exact material/composition, thickness, 40 W module, speed units, power, passes, focus, air assist, support and result. Do not copy Redsail CO₂ recipes or the malformed S1 plywood row from the F2 page.
Identify the locally available screen-printing frames/mesh and approved settings/workflow. No rotary, riser, conveyor, IR module or automatic extinguishing system has been confirmed; record inventory and authorization before adding accessory instructions.
Confirm who cleans the 40 W lens protector, the shared cleaning schedule and permitted supplies. Manufacturer guidance differs: the downloaded guide says 1 hour; its FAQ recommends approximately 30 minutes cumulative use. Record lens, fan, exhaust/filter and motion-system service responsibilities and completed checks.
Sources to resolve these checks
See the S1 machine page and its maintenance log for source links. The current page separates the confirmed 40 W module, manufacturer reference specifications and dated local operating instructions.
Created on 14 October 2026; keep resolved items and their evidence rather than deleting the record.
