Maintenance and repairs log — GUANGDU M20 tapping arm

Maintenance, configuration and safety history for Electric tapping arm — GUANGDU M20. Routine operating instructions and tooling selection are on the machine page. Outstanding checks are collected in Metal — Open questions.

Dated reports establish what was known then. A reported repair or proposed modification is not proof of the current condition or completion.

14 October 2026 — Machine and tooling photographs documented

Member-supplied photographs identify GUANGDU M20, manufacturer 苏州光度机械设备有限公司 / Suzhou Guangdu Machinery Equipment Co., Ltd., head marked WB-90/12, rated M3–M20, 220 V / 50 Hz / 1500 W, 1.1 m working radius, 500 rpm maximum, and production-date field 2508.

A member confirms DIN and ISO tapping chucks from M2 up to M18 with custom printed organizers. The pictured organizer has eight holders and blank label spaces; it does not prove a complete inventory or clutch calibration. M2 inventory does not extend the machine's rated M3 minimum.

The local manual photographs have been compiled into a PDF, and general toolmaker reference sheets downloaded and attached. Status: identification/documentation update, not an installation inspection or operating test. Controls, protection, holder inventory and workholding still need local checks.

28 April 2026 — GT12 holders and preset mechanical clutches clarified

The local quick-change interface is GT12. Most tap holders have individual preset mechanical torque clutches. The two-hole outer ring adjusts clutch torque; the local guidance explicitly advises against changing presets without a method for measured torque calibration. Routine users must not treat that ring as a release collar or tighten it to overcome a jam. Preset explanation, adjuster identification.

Die holders have no torque clutch. The largest tap holders were also recalled as non-clutch types, mentioning M18 and another size “IIRC”. Status: useful local description, not a verified holder-by-holder inventory or calibration record. Inspect and label each holder rather than assigning that recollection to every M18 adapter. GT12 and exceptions.

22 April 2026 — Unclamped workpiece near-miss

A heavy, unclamped workpiece caught during threading and swung. The report shows why stock weight is not restraint: secure the workpiece and the vise/fixture against torque. Bench holes, a reminder sign and relocation were proposed in the replies. Status: no completed bench modification or tested revised workholding arrangement recorded in this thread. Incident and discussion.

In the ensuing discussion a user described the screen's torque field as Off and unresponsive. The later clutch explanation above identifies the mechanical protection where fitted. Status: electronic torque protection not established; do not rely on it. This report is not a diagnosis of a particular controller fault.

28 March 2026 — Controller views and physical manual shared

Members photographed the local Chinese ordinary/manual screen and English automatic-mode indicator. Those values are historical, not approved process presets. The corresponding English family booklet covers M12/M16/M20/M24/M36/M42; recovered images include the cover and printed pages 1–17, with warranty page 18 absent. It has no GUANGDU branding/confirmed revision. Its drawings and control layout match the locally photographed arm; its M20 ratings largely agree with the plate, while its 1000 mm radius differs from the installed plate's 1.1 m. Manual source, Chinese display, English mode indicator.

Status: documentation recovered. Exact manufacturer/revision applicability, control behavior, stopping and depth accuracy still need verification.

6 January 2026 — Custom chuck organizers

Two printed chuck organizers were reported, with hidden magnets at the bottom of the sockets, Gridfinity-compatible bases and planned Brother labels. Status: organizer design described; present complete labels, socket mapping and printable files still need checking. Organizer report.
