Maintenance and repairs log — Merrow MG-3U

Repair, maintenance and installation history for the Merrow MG-3U. Routine cleaning, oiling and operating instructions remain on the machine page.

Dated reports describe what was known at the time. Check the actual machine before use; a historical report does not establish its present condition. Outstanding checks are collected in Open questions.

14 October 2026 — Current setup photographed and identification corrected

Four new member-supplied photographs document the current tabletop head, sewing area, nameplate and under-table drive. The plate clearly reads MG-3U, serial 213269; rechecking the July 2023 original confirms the same number and corrects the earlier “212269” transcription.

The member has identified the under-table drive as the VEVOR 750 W brushless sewing-machine servo motor, using the supplied product listing and product image. The supplier rates it 220 V / 50 Hz, with an advertised 500–3,500 motor rpm range. This identification does not establish present settings or head speed. The actual controller label/firmware, pulley ratio, guarding, isolation controls and needle-positioner installation/enabling remain to be recorded. A related VEVOR four-button controller reference has been attached to the main page with its different generic speed limits clearly noted.

Current nameplate photograph, current motor/drive photograph; all four full-resolution photographs are linked on the main page.

This documents the observed setup. The April 2026 foot-pressure and stitch-interlocking reports still need a confirmed current test/result.

21 April 2026 — Stitch-interlocking problem reported

A report described failure of the threads to interlock. No confirmed resolution was found in the reviewed discussion.

Still to verify: whether it was repaired and whether the machine now produces a sound test border. Stop and seek help if the fault recurs.

7 April 2026 — Insufficient foot pressure reported

Insufficient foot pressure was reported. A confirmed repair was not found in the reviewed discussion.

Have the present feeding and foot-pressure adjustment checked. The historical report does not establish that the fault remains.

April 2025 — Commissioning, oil change and mechanical corrections

A commissioning report records an ISO 46 oil change, correction of a lower-looper burr, drive alignment and successful test borders.

The servo controller was then set to start at 100 rpm and reach 1,000 rpm at full pedal travel. These are historical motor settings, not the head's stitch rate or a confirmed current operating limit. The fitted controller and pulley ratio still need documenting.

The tests produced borders with ordinary embroidery thread for the needle and lower looper and dedicated Merrow thread for the upper looper. Exact fibres, sizes and strand counts were not recorded. Thin transparent thread broke during these tests; the report does not establish that every transparent thread is unsuitable.

July 2023 — Acquisition and model identification

The acquisition thread includes a plate photograph reading STYLE MG-3U, SERIAL 213269. The earlier wiki transcription “212269” was corrected on 14 October 2026 after rechecking this original photograph and the new close-up. The same serial is visible in both; no head replacement is established by that correction.

The current nameplate and setup photographs are on the main machine page. Match the installed parts as well as the model/serial when ordering.

Adding a maintenance entry

Record the date, symptom, work performed, parts used and result. Include useful photos and a source or contact for follow-up. Distinguish completed repairs from proposed work and confirm the result with an appropriate test.

History consolidated 13 October 2026; current photographs, drive details and serial transcription updated 14 October 2026.
