Maintenance and repairs log — MIG-O-MAT Lötstar 141

Repair and maintenance history for the MIG-O-MAT Lötstar 141. Routine checks, cleaning and operating instructions are on the machine page.

12 October 2026 — Replacement parts ordered

Ordered a replacement vaporizer glass, a new float, several seals, and 0.8, 0.9 and 1.0 mm nozzles.

Parts ordered; machine remains out of service.

10 October 2026 — Cracked vaporizer glass

A failed automatic leak test led to discovery of a small crack at the edge of the vaporizer glass caused by overtightening.

Machine taken out of service.

16 September 2026 — Reactor cleaned and refilled

Cleaned and refilled the reactor tank.

Machine returned to use.

4–5 September 2026 — Handpiece replaced and reactor topped up

Topped up the reactor with distilled water, replaced the torch handpiece and supplied correctly fitting nozzles. Discoloured liquid and black debris were found in the condensate separator. The reactor level had been too low to build enough pressure for the leak test.

Handpiece replaced and water topped up; further cleaning was needed.

15 July 2026 — Condensate-glass retaining ring too tight

The condensate-glass retaining ring could not be loosened by hand. Condensate level was still low.

Vessel left undisturbed rather than forcing the ring.

15 April 2026 — Handpiece cone leak

Tested an original nozzle. The fit improved, but the damaged handpiece cone leaked gas around the connection.

Replacement handpiece and correctly fitting nozzles were needed.

12 April 2026 — Water top-up and poor nozzle fit

Checked and topped up the reactor water. There was not enough distilled water available to reach the full float level. The existing nozzles fitted poorly.

Further water and attention to the nozzle fit were needed.

11 April 2026 — Water refill and settings adjusted

Refilled with distilled water and adjusted settings.

Maintenance completed.

29 January 2026 — Temporary nozzle repair

Temporarily secured the nozzle with tape and tested the machine successfully.

Temporary repair.

27 January 2026 — Nozzle came loose

The nozzle would not stay attached and was ejected during use.

Machine unavailable; nozzle fit and handpiece cone investigated.

Spring 2024 — Initial servicing and setup

Initial servicing and setup, including new flashback protection, hoses and seals.

Successful flame test on 21 March.

8 March 2024 — Machine arrived

Used machine arrived from France. Inspection and hose replacement were planned, and a replacement torch handpiece had been ordered.

Preparation for use in the workshop.
