Maintenance and repairs log — Seiko STH-8BLD
Repair, maintenance and installation history for the Seiko STH-8BLD. Routine cleaning, oiling and operating instructions remain on the machine page.
Dated reports describe what was known at the time. Check the actual machine before use; a historical report does not establish its present condition. Outstanding checks are collected in Open questions.
This log concerns the original STH-8BLD, not the -2 or -3 revision.
14 October 2026 — Current workstation photographed
Three new member photographs document the head, complete table/pedal arrangement and model/needle labels. The model plate reads STH-8BLD, with Oil System / Made in Japan / Seiko Sewing Machine Co., Ltd.; the local needle label reads 135×17 / DP×17.
The workstation views show a broad foot pedal and linkage, a padded knee lever, work light, rear thread stand, right-hand enclosure and labelled OFF/ON push-button station. The grey motor's plate is not readable, and the separate box beneath the table does not prove installation of the planned servo kit. Motor identification, ratings, conversion status, serial/prefix and functional guard/control checks remain open.

10 October 2026 — Correct needles received; working report
The room maintainer reported that the correct needles had arrived and the machine was working fine. This supersedes the 24 September warning about the then-fitted incorrect needle.

The left packet visibly lists DP×17 / 135×17, Nm 125/20. The leather-labelled bag shows Nm 160 / size 23, with its system marking obscured. These are dated stock examples, not a complete purchasing specification; confirm the system, size and point on each packet before use.
27 August 2026 — Servo upgrade awaiting installation
A report placed a 750 W servo-motor kit with a needle positioner beneath the machine, awaiting installation. The photograph shows the original clutch-motor installation and the boxed kit.

Still to verify: whether the conversion was completed, the fitted motor/controller model, matching manuals and stopping/speed-control behaviour. A boxed kit is not confirmation of installation.
18 August 2026 — Machine installed
The machine was reported installed, replacing the former Dürkopp machine. Identify parts and service instructions for the Seiko itself.

Adding a maintenance entry
Record the date, symptom, work performed, parts used and result. Include useful photos and a source or contact for follow-up. Distinguish completed repairs from proposed work and confirm the result with an appropriate test.
History consolidated 13 October 2026; current workstation photographs and visible setup details added 14 October 2026.
