Maintenance and repairs log — Singer 29K4

Repair, maintenance and installation history for the Singer 29K4. Routine cleaning, oiling and operating instructions remain on the machine page.

Dated reports describe what was known at the time. Check the actual machine before use; a historical report does not establish its present condition. Outstanding checks are collected in Open questions.

5 July 2026 — Bobbin winder restored

The bobbin winder was reported working after maintenance: accumulated thread and dirt were removed and its mechanism was oiled. The video in the report shows this patcher and stand.

27 April 2023 — Incorrect needle replaced

A failure to pick up the bobbin thread was resolved by replacing an incorrect fitted needle with the correct long needle from the box labelled Singer 29K4.

Check the confirmed needle system and stock before treating a similar symptom as a timing fault. This report does not establish that every needle now in the box is correct.

Adding a maintenance entry

Record the date, symptom, work performed, parts used and result. Include useful photos and a source or contact for follow-up. Distinguish completed repairs from proposed work and confirm the result with an appropriate test.
