Maintenance and repairs log — xTool S1

Maintenance and configuration history for the xTool S1 (40 W). Routine operation and care belong on the machine page. Outstanding checks are collected in Lasers — Open questions.

Dated reports establish what was known then. A repair report does not certify today's condition or resolve a later fault.

14 October 2026 — Module identified and documentation added

A member confirms that the installed S1 has the 40 W blue-diode module. The machine guide has been expanded using official xTool documentation and the local records below; the English Quick Start Guide is downloaded and attached. The existing manufacturer reference image depicts a 10 W module and is labelled accordingly.

Status: identification and documentation update, not a physical inspection or operating test. Serial numbers, installed software/accessories, exhaust-control labels and service responsibilities remain to be recorded.

5 October 2026 — Ventilation, focusing and cleanup instructions

Alex's local instructions require Redsail ventilation and the black fan box beneath the table, focusing before processing, vacuuming inside the laser afterwards, then turning off both fans. The fan identification was described as “there's two, one from the right”; a labelled photograph and demonstration are still needed. Local instruction.

Status: operating instruction, not evidence of a new ventilation repair or measured airflow.

14–17 May 2026 — Conditional simultaneous-use warning

The 14 May reply says two lasers should work together, not all three, unless the red warning light begins blinking. The S1 wiki warning, updated 17 May, instructs users to turn off the xTool power strip if the Redsail red beacon blinks and says a remedy is being worked on. The main guide retains that conditional stop instruction. May discussion.

Status: conditional operating guidance; no completed final remedy or test recorded here. This supersedes the earlier blanket one-at-a-time advice only to the extent stated.

23–26 February 2026 — Smoke backflow, filter replacement and continuing warning

Smoke from the F2 was reported coming out through the S1. A filter replacement and improvement were subsequently reported, but the red alarm still blinked and use returned to one machine at a time. The later May guidance above partly changes that operating restriction. Full report and replies, filter report, continuing warning.

Status: filter replacement reported; no basis for declaring the entire shared-extraction problem permanently resolved. Record current exhaust/filter configuration and the result of any later test.

18 December 2025 — Marks in backing reported

Unwanted cuts or marks in the backing were reported. The record does not establish the support/backing arrangement, cause or completed correction. Verify the present bed and backing before using a cutting setup. Report.

12 November 2025 — Open rollers/riser setup rejected

The local discussion explicitly says open rollers and a riser are not going to be used on the S1. Manufacturer compatibility is therefore not a local authorization for an open or passthrough configuration. Local configuration decision.

Adding an entry

Record the date, symptom, work performed, parts used, result and remaining checks. Link the report and include useful photographs. Distinguish a proposed change from completed work; describe the test and who performed it.
