Module 1 — Rules summary

Module 1 · Rules summary

A short list of the rules in Module 1, to look back at. It is a reminder, not a replacement for the lessons: the quiz covers the whole module.

Before you print

  • Pass this quiz, and put your member label on your spools.

  • One printer per member at a time, first come, first served.

  • Nametag on from when you load filament until your print is removed. It must show your member number and name; a tag with less counts as none. Anyone may stop an untagged print, except your first nametag print.

What you may print

  • Ordinary PLA on the four upper-row X2Ds, one spool at a time.

  • No silk PLA except Bambu PLA Silk+, no filled PLA, never glow-in-the-dark.

  • Only materials on the allow-list. Not listed means not allowed.

Spools and filament

  • Only moulded plastic spools in the AMS, and keep its lid latched.

  • Non-Bambu filament: set the material type by hand, and get it right.

  • A spool is free only when a FREE sticker covers the owner's name. Free filament stays in the room.

  • A spool marked ROOM DEV. belongs to the room developers. Leave it alone.

  • Doing the weekly shelf rotation? Reply to the Sunday Slack reminder first, then follow its steps.

  • Leave the filament path alone: no rerouting, no external spool holders, no pushing filament by hand.

  • After a cancelled or failed job, run Unload before taking the spool out.

Plates

  • Wash the plate with warm water and dish soap before you print.

  • No hand soap or acetone on any plate. No IPA or glue on SuperTack.

  • Let the plate cool, flex it to release the print, and use plastic blades only.

Slicing and printing

  • Never change the installed profiles. Save your own settings under a clear name.

  • Auto Bed Leveling stays on Auto, never Off.

  • Copy files to the printer's USB drive from your own laptop. Put the drive straight back; it never leaves the makerspace.

  • If you use your own USB drive, take it out once the print has started and put the printer's drive back.

  • Watch the whole first layer.

  • LAN only: no cloud, no network changes.

Other people's prints

  • A finished print goes to the rack on its plate, with its nametag. The spool goes on the "This week" shelf.

  • You may stop an obviously failed print. Leave it on its plate in the rack and tag the owner in #3D-Skrivare, without a photo.

When you're done

  • Leave the printer empty: plate in the rack, AMS empty, nametag off, inside vacuumed.

Safety

  • Let the nozzle and bed cool. Never reach into a printer whose job isn't finished, even if it's paused.

  • Screws out or wires off? Ask in Slack and wait for a room developer or board member to reply.

  • A fault you can't fix? Report it in #3D-Skrivare and put a red Out of order tag on the printer. Never use a printer with a red tag.

  • Fire or electrical fault: deal with the danger first. Then, if it's safe, switch off, unplug, and tell us in Slack.

Module 2 covers the lower-row X2Ds, the H2S printers, materials beyond PLA, support material, multi-colour printing, the filament dryers and nozzle changes.
