Drums and media
Drum | Media | Use |
|---|---|---|
Abrasive | 4 mm angle-cut ceramic triangles | Smoothing and deburring; removes material and softens detail |
Polishing | Porcelain rods, 1.3 × 3, 1.5 × 5 and 2.5 × 8 mm | Fine polishing after the abrasive stage |
The drums hang on the wall above the machine. The 30 cm 40-mesh sieve hangs below them, and the funnel hangs above. Erik Cederberg printed the funnel, the wall mounts and the drum-closing handles.

Controls
Control | Function |
|---|---|
Left knob (TIME CONTROL) | Timer up to 60 min, or ON for continuous |
Right knob | Speed 1–5; positions between the numbers are PAUSE |
Rocker I / O / II | One direction / stop / alternating (about 1 min each way, 5 s pause) |
Safety
Unplug before fitting or removing a drum or cleaning the base. Keep hands and hair away from the rollers.
The base, controls and rollers must stay dry. Only the drum goes to the wet room.
Delta SG concentrate causes serious eye damage and skin irritation. Wear eye protection and gloves when measuring it and handling wet contents.
Stay with the machine while it runs. Stop immediately if it leaks or stalls.
How to use
Take the right drum for the stage. Clean the lid and seal surfaces.
Add water until it just covers the media, then 20–40 ml Jentner Delta SG.
Add the workpieces, staying within 5 kg total. Close the lid evenly without forcing the handles. Dry the outside and place the drum centrally on the rollers.
With the rocker at O, set speed and timer, then select I or II. Watch the first rotations for leaks. Go through O when switching between I and II.
Start with short runs on unfamiliar work and check the finish regularly.
When done: rocker O, timer OFF, unplug, remove the drum.
In the wet room, pour everything into the sieve over the heavy-duty sink, which has a sediment trap. Rinse the media and parts and check holes for trapped media.
Put the funnel on the drum pegs and pour the media back into its own drum. Rinse parts thoroughly before moving them from the abrasive drum to the polishing drum.
Hang the drums, sieve and funnel back up and wipe away splashes.
No rock-tumbling grit, steel shot or other chemicals.
Maintenance
Keep the base and rollers clean and dry. Check lid seals and handles for wear.
Report leaks, damaged seals or unusual running in #silversmide.
Consumables
