The fault was identified as a failed filter capacitor (C1), which resulted in inadequate suppression of transient voltage spikes. This caused excessive transient voltages to pass through the circuit, ultimately leading to failure of the protective TVS diode, which shorted the supply as designed. Replaced the following components: C1 capacitor (400 V, 220 µF) and TVS diode (1.5KE440CA, supplied by ELAB). No additional component damage was detected, indicating that the protection circuitry successfully prevented further failure. | |||
