1.14 Doing a print at a glance

Module 1 · Part 5: Putting it together · Lesson 14 of 14 · about 2 min

This is a whole print job on one page. Each step points to the section that explains it. Your very first print is your nametag (first-print_circular-name-tag.stl): you don't have one yet, so skip step 2, and stay with the printer for the whole print, about 20 minutes.

  1. Find an upper-row X2D that is free. It must not be printing, claimed by someone else's nametag, or marked out of order with a red tag. If someone's finished print or spool is still in it, clear it (1.7 Taking over a printer). That is normal.

  2. Put your nametag on the lid handle. From now on the printer is yours (1.5 Nametags and taking turns).

  3. Wash a plate. Take a Cool Plate SuperTack from the rack, wash it with warm water and dish soap in the wet room, dry it, and seat it properly on the printer (1.8 Build plates).

  4. Check your spool and load it into the four-slot AMS 2 Pro: solid plastic spool, your label on it, ordinary PLA, neatly wound. One spool. Latch the lid (1.6 Filament: what you may use, and where it lives, 1.9 Loading filament into the AMS).

  5. Slice in Bambu Studio for that printer, that plate and that slot (1.10 Slicing in Bambu Studio).

  6. Start the print and watch the whole first layer (1.11 Starting and watching the print). Then you may leave.

  7. When you collect your print: let it cool, lift your plate out, vacuum the printer, take your spool out and your nametag off, then flex your print off and put your plate back in the rack (1.12 Finishing up). If someone has already moved your print to the rack, collect it there.
