Control | Function |
|---|---|
Knob on the optical head | Zoom |
Large round knob on the front arm (D) | Focus |
Upper handle (C) | Head angle — support the head while adjusting |
Column lock (E) | Arm height |
Friction knobs (A, B, F) | Arm stiffness — clockwise = stiffer |
T-knobs on forehead rest | Side knob = angle, top knob = depth |
Screws (G) | Arm rigidity — maintainers only |
How to use
Remove the cover and put it somewhere clean. Clear the bench and place the part in a stable holder.
Position the head over the work, about 165 mm above it.
Adjust eyepiece spacing until you see one image. Adjust the forehead rest.
Focus with knob D, zoom with the head knob. Find the work at low zoom, then zoom in.
Refocus when the work height changes.
Setting the eyepieces for your eyes
Zoom to max, both diopter rings at 0.
Look through the right eyepiece and focus with knob D.
Zoom to min. Without touching D, sharpen with the right diopter ring.
Repeat steps 1–3 until the image stays sharp across the whole zoom range.
At min zoom, sharpen the left eye with the left diopter ring.
When finished
Turn off the light, park the arm and put the cover on (it must cover both the objective and the eyepieces).
Remove your parts and tools and clean the bench.
Don't grind, wire-brush or make chips near the uncovered microscope.
Troubleshooting
Problem | Action |
|---|---|
Head drifts or arm won't hold position | Support the head, stop using it, report in #metallrummet. |
Blurry, double or shaded image | Check eyepiece spacing and focus. Don't take the head apart. |
Dirty lens, damaged cover, loose eyepiece | Report in #metallrummet. |
Care
Don't touch the lenses. Remove dust with a blower bulb or lens brush only — no rags, paper towels or compressed air.
Oily or stubborn dirt: ask an experienced member.
Maintainers check the setting screws regularly (manual p. 12).
