Maintenance and repairs log — VEVOR JH-1 microscope

Dated installation, cover work, faults and repairs for Stereo microscope — VEVOR JH-1 series, in the Metal room. Use the machine guide for the current setup and basic handling.

14 October 2026 — VEVOR kit identified and manufacturer manual retained

The member identified this VEVOR multi-directional micro-setting microscope, product reference 010191167000, and confirmed that the optical head and stand were purchased together as one kit.

Original supplied manufacturer manual — JH-1A/JH-1B/JH-1C (PDF)

The complete 172-page multilingual PDF is attached unchanged. Its English section is PDF pp. 1–20. The main guide now uses its optical specifications, control map and focus/diopter procedure. It distinguishes the optical-head zoom knob from the large front-arm focus control D.

The manual gives 10× eyepieces, 0.7–4.5× zoom and 7–45× native total magnification (p. 5). The product lists a 0.5× / 165 mm lens. With that reducing lens fitted, 3.5–22.5× is the calculated total; the fitted lens marking still needs recording. The manual suggests starting about 165 mm from the work (p. 12).

Source differences and variant checks

The manual covers three packages. JH-1A/JH-1B include the OK65, 5 V DC USB ring light in the parameter table; JH-1B adds the ball vise and clamp accessories; JH-1C omits them. The exact purchased variant and current accessory inventory have not been separately confirmed.

Several broad dimensions differ between the documents:

Parameter

Manual, PDF p. 5

Linked product listing

Pupil spacing

50–75 mm

54–76 mm

Lens/mount opening

77 ± 0.5 mm

85 mm bracket opening

Working-distance entry

0–400 mm

95–300 mm

These may describe different fittings or generic adjustment ranges. The main guide uses the manual's about 165 mm starting instruction, with focus adjusted to the actual setup, rather than treating either broad range as a measured optical specification. The listing's “7X–4.5X” wording is inconsistent; the manual clearly separates 0.7–4.5× zoom and 7–45× total.

The supplied instructions describe friction adjustments but no spring-preload procedure. This update records documentation and identity; it is not a report of physical adjustment, calibration or repair.

14 October 2026 — local setup documented

A member supplied three photographs and confirmed the Precision Corner location. The photographs show the binocular optical head, WF10X/20 eyepiece marking, forehead support, spring-supported VEVOR articulated arm, bench-fixed column and protective cover.

The stand label reads SN: 241210 5444 G 0002. At this first documentation step, the stand label alone did not establish the optical model or total magnification. The later kit identification and supplied manual are recorded above. The main page keeps working and covered views side by side. Photograph capture dates were not separately supplied.

1 December 2025 — cover-fit feedback

Marcus reported that the cover was too loose and needed to protect both the objective and eyepieces. This is historical fit feedback; the current cover's fit should be checked directly rather than inferred from that report. Cover-fit discussion.

19 November 2025 — sewing-circle cover contribution

Christian Hanssen posted a gift from the evening's sewing circle in the protective-cover discussion. Contribution.

16 October 2025 — Precision Corner ready and cover requested

Marcus announced that the Precisionshörnan / Precision Corner had been unpacked and assembled and was ready to use. It was intended as a seated area for engraving, watch repairs, small assembly and similar fine work. This records the announcement date. Setup announcement.

A protective cover was requested because of the Metal room's dusty environment. Cover request.

1 October 2025 — acquisition announced

Marcus Videberger reported that he and Erik Cederberg had bought new Metal-room tools, including the microscope for engraving. The announcement specifically reserved the microscope for use in the Metal shop. It identifies the people involved in procurement rather than establishing personal ownership. Acquisition announcement.

The accompanying product image shows a matching VEVOR articulated spring arm, white binocular head and forehead support. Accessories shown in the product image are not an inventory of what is currently fitted.

Recording later work

Record the date, reporter, symptom, action and result. Add a photo or source link. For optical identification, record the head, eyepieces, objective or auxiliary lens, illumination and any exact manual reference. For mount or cover work, record what changed and whether the head holds its position and both lens openings are protected.
