Bambu Lab AMS HT

Attached to the X2Ds. There is an AMS HT to the right of every Bambu Lab X2D; the H2S has none. It is taught in Module 2 (2.4 Support material, and the X2D's second nozzle), so you need Module 2 to use it.

What it is

A one-spool filament feeder for the X2D's right nozzle. In this room its main job is support material: your model prints from the AMS 2 Pro and the left nozzle, the support from the AMS HT and the right nozzle. The right nozzle is a little slower and less precise, which does not matter for support you snap off (Bambu Lab X2D).

Like the AMS 2 Pro, it is sealed. Keep the lid closed and locked with the locking tab on top.

What may go in it

⛔ Hard rule. Never load a filament in the AMS HT that Bambu's X2D Filament Compatibility Guide rates highly not recommended or unavailable for the auxiliary (right) nozzle. The ratings change over time, so check the guide rather than relying on memory.

  • Support material: Bambu's Support for PLA, Support for PLA/PETG and Support for ABS are rated good for the right nozzle. On the upper row, only Bambu Support for PLA.

  • Anything else: check Bambu's guide first, and it must be on that printer's allow-list (Bambu Lab X2D).

  • Never use the TPU filament outlet on the back of the lid. Keep it closed.

Put your nametag on the printer first.

  1. Check the spool as for the AMS 2 Pro: moulded plastic, your label, an allowed material, and a neat winding. Never let go of the loose end (Bambu Lab AMS 2 Pro).

  2. Unlock the lid with the tab on top, open it and put the spool in. It should sit flat and turn freely.

  3. Push the filament end into the inlet next to the status light. The AMS HT pulls it in by itself; when the light next to the inlet comes on, it is ready.

  4. Other brands: set the filament on the printer's screen (tap the slot, choose Edit), as on the Bambu Lab AMS 2 Pro.

  5. Close the lid and lock it.

  6. In Bambu Studio, sync with the printer, and set the support interface to the AMS HT's filament (2.4 Support material, and the X2D's second nozzle).

  • After a normal print, the printer pulls the filament back. Lift your spool out and take it with you.

  • After a cancelled job, or one stopped by an error, run Unload on the screen first.

Dry damp filament in the hallway dryers before you print (Filament dryers). The AMS HT can dry too, but while it prints it dries at a lower temperature and much more slowly, so it does not rescue a damp spool. Never tie up an AMS, and with it a printer, just to dry filament (2.7 Drying filament, and the two dryers).

Water droplets inside? Open the lid briefly to let the steam out, and dry the spool in a dryer before using it again.

The most important rules

  1. Only moulded plastic spools, with your member label.

  2. Close and lock the lid.

  3. Spools go in just before your print and come out after it. Never tie up an AMS, and with it a printer, just to dry filament.

  4. Filament reaches the printer only through the AMS, with the tubes as they are connected. Never reroute a tube, bypass the AMS, use the TPU filament outlet, an external spool holder or a splitter, or push or pull filament through the tubes by hand.

  5. After a cancelled or failed job, run Unload before you take the spool out.

  6. Never load anything Bambu's compatibility guide rates highly not recommended or unavailable for the right nozzle.

  7. Check the guide before loading anything that is not a support material.

  8. Upper row: only Bambu Support for PLA as support material.

When something goes wrong

If filament will not feed in or come out, do not force it. Ask in the Slack channel #3D-Skrivare. The status light, common problems and what you may fix yourself: Bambu Lab AMS HT — Problems and fixes.
