Inkjet printer — Epson ET-15000

Networked colour inkjet printer for documents, drawings, photos and inkjet-compatible labels. It prints up to A3+ through the rear tray. Copying and scanning use the smaller flatbed or automatic document feeder; an A3 original does not fit on the scanner.

Before printing

Wake the printer and check its screen for errors. Look at the ink levels through the tank windows; if a colour is at or below the lower line, refill it before continuing.

On your own computer, install the ET-15000 printer driver from Epson's support page, selecting your operating system. Use the installer's network discovery to add the existing printer. Check that your print dialog selects ET-15000, especially if several Epson printers appear. The local queue name and software available on shared computers still need confirmation; see Open questions.

Check the paper size every time. A member reported finding the printer left set to A3, so do not assume the previous user's settings suit your job. Local paper/settings discussion, August 2026

Extend the paper support and output tray, and bring the guides against the edges without bending the paper. Register the actual size and paper type on the printer screen, then match those settings in the driver. A3/A3+ cannot go in the front cassette.

A4 paper is normally in the cassette. A3 paper was stored in the second drawer under the printer, according to the August 2026 local instructions. Return unused rear-feed paper to its packaging when finished. Local paper locations

Capacities depend on the media. Use flat, clean inkjet-compatible paper and follow its packaging; do not infer that any thick card or coated sheet is suitable from its weight alone. Epson's manual gives the full media table on pp. 272–275. Cassette loading · Rear-tray loading

Print a document or image

  1. Open the file and choose Print, then select the ET-15000.

  2. Open Preferences / Properties on Windows, or the printer options in the macOS print dialog. Set paper size, source and media type to match the loaded sheets.

  3. Choose colour or black-and-white, quality, orientation and the intended page range. Check the preview and number of copies.

  4. For ordinary two-sided A4 documents, select automatic duplex and the correct binding edge. For A3/A3+ or postcards, print each side separately only if the media supports printing on both sides; test sheet orientation and let the first side dry before reloading.

  5. Print one test sheet before a batch. Check size, colours, cropping and the reverse-side orientation before sending the remaining copies.

  6. Collect the output and pay for your printed pages in the webshop.

For dimensioned drawings, templates or print-and-cut registration marks, use Actual size / 100%, turn off fit-to-page scaling, and measure a known distance on the test print. Borderless printing can enlarge/crop the artwork, so leave it off when scale or registration matters. A3+ borderless printing is unsupported; borderless availability at other sizes depends on the paper. Printing settings · Two-sided printing

For labels, choose material explicitly intended for inkjet printers and test feeding and ink drying. Members have discussed inkjet label paper/vinyl, rectangular cutting with the Dahle 565, and contour cutting with Silhouette registration marks; those suggestions do not establish which media is currently stocked. Copy and scan

Flatbed: place the original face-down at the corner mark and close the lid gently. Use it for photos, valuable originals, bound material or damaged sheets. The maximum original is 216 × 356 mm (Legal).

ADF: load ordinary loose documents face-up, short edge first, with staples/clips removed. Fit the guide and stay below the loading mark. It accepts A4/Letter/Legal documents, with a stated limit of 35 sheets or 3.85 mm and paper weight 64–95 g/m². Scan reverse sides separately and check the final page order.

To copy, select Copy on the touchscreen and check colour mode, quantity, output paper and magnification before starting.

To scan to a computer, install Epson Scan 2 and Epson ScanSmart. Start ScanSmart on the intended computer, or select Scan → Computer on the printer, choose that computer and PDF/JPEG/preview, then start. Preview the result, save your file and collect every original. If the computer is absent from the list, check the scanning software and network connection. Epson scanning instructions

Ink and supplies

Spare ink is in the recessed pocket directly under the printer, above the drawers. A locating label was added in October 2026. This pocket is separate from the A3-paper drawer.

Local photo, 6 October 2026. Storage and refill record

The European model specifies 102 ink in BK (black), C (cyan), M (magenta) and Y (yellow). Local stock is 123ink 102-compatible replacement ink; replacements were ordered to keep the existing ink type consistent.

Double-check the colour before refilling.

Locally used replacement bottles lack colour-specific keyed fittings. Read both the bottle label and the tank label; a bottle fitting the opening does not prove that its colour is correct.

Refill while the printer is idle. Follow the on-screen instructions and Epson's illustrated refill procedure, fill to the upper line without overfilling, and do not leave a bottle inserted. Close the tank caps and covers, then set/reset the displayed level for the colour actually refilled. Do not reset an empty tank's level without adding ink. Local bottle warning

The replaceable waste-ink maintenance box is T04D1 / C13T04D100. Check its remaining capacity in Maintenance. When full, follow the screen's replacement instructions. A borderless printing ink-pad service message is a different fault and requires service; replacing the box will not resolve it.

Troubleshooting

Symptom

What to check

No print / printer offline

Correct ET-15000 selected, printer awake, screen errors, computer on the Makerspace network, and your print queue. Clear/cancel your failed job before resending to avoid duplicates. Do not reset the shared printer's network settings.

Wrong size / missing A3 option

Application page size, driver paper size and selected source. Use the rear tray for A3. If advanced media/source options are absent, install the Epson driver from European support.

Paper mismatch / wrong sheet used

Match the screen's registered size/type to the actual paper and driver. Check both feeds for paper left by another user.

Jam

Follow the screen's animated removal instructions and remove torn fragments gently. Keep hands clear of the controls while inside the printer; do not force trays or pull hard.

Bands / missing colours

Print a nozzle check before running a cleaning cycle; follow the sequence below.

Lines only on scans/copies

Inspect the flatbed glass and narrow ADF scan strip for dirt. Clean gently as described in the manual.

For network diagnosis, use Settings → General Settings → Network Settings → Connection Check to print a check report. Network Status → Print Status Sheet shows the current connection details. Epson network diagnosis

Nozzle checks and cleaning

Load A4 plain paper and select Maintenance → Print Head Nozzle Check. Inspect the pattern. If all lines are complete, cleaning is unnecessary; investigate the paper/settings instead. If segments are missing, run head cleaning and check the resulting pattern.

After three unsuccessful nozzle-check/cleaning cycles, stop and wait at least 12 hours without printing, then check again. Use the power button when switching off so the printhead parks correctly; wait until its light is off before disconnecting power. Epson nozzle-check procedure

Power Cleaning is a recovery procedure for severe clogging or failure after that sequence. It uses a substantial amount of ink and deposits waste ink in the maintenance box. Before using it, read the manual: every tank must be at least one-third full, and the maintenance box must have sufficient capacity. Wait at least 12 hours between Power Cleanings. If quality has not improved after Power Cleaning, wait at least 12 hours without printing before checking again. Persistent poor quality needs further diagnosis. Epson Power Cleaning restrictions

Cancel an unwanted job in your computer's queue and on the printer if it has already been sent. Collect your prints/originals, return unused special paper and leave the area ready for the next member.
