Air compressor — Mattei ERC 507L
Recurring HIGH TEMP trips. The most recent was on 14 October 2026; restarting after cooling restored the air supply, but the cause is not fixed. See the maintenance log.
Oil-injected rotary-vane compressor supplying the compressed air system. Normally left running in AUTO.

In AUTO the motor stops and starts by itself with demand. A silent motor does not mean the compressor is off.
Stopping
Stopping the compressor cuts air to every room, so agree it with the maintainers first.
Press STOP / ARRESTO.
Wait for the motor to stop by itself, about two minutes of unloaded running.
Only then switch off or isolate the power.
Cutting power, opening the cover or using the emergency stop while the motor runs can push oil into the intake filter. Use the emergency stop only in a real emergency, and report it afterwards.
The cover has an interlock that stops the motor immediately. It opens with a triangular key; press the cover into place when locking it.
HIGH TEMP trip
Let the compressor cool and tell a maintainer.
Check for blocked cooling, a hot room, leaks or unusually heavy air use (e.g. sandblasting).
When a restart is agreed: TRIP RESET, then START RUN with AUTO selected.
Don't keep resetting a fault that comes back, or one with abnormal noise or no pressure build-up.
Maintenance
Oil: Mattei Rotoroil F2 only. Check the level in the sight glass. Never open the filler while running or under pressure.
Interval: about yearly; the January 2022 service recommended every 2,500 running hours. The meter read 44,152 h in January 2022.
Cooling: keep vents and coolers clear.
Cyclone filter drain: timer-controlled, replaced April 2025.
Before any service: normal stop, isolate the power, prevent automatic restart, isolate from the air network and release the pressure. Qualified personnel only.
