Maintenance and repairs log — Arboga G2512

Repair, maintenance and installation history for the Arboga G2512. Routine checks and operating instructions are on the machine page.

Entries are listed newest first. Use the machine page for current controls and settings, and this log for work performed, parts and test results.

This log concerns the green floor-standing Arboga G2512 in the Woodshop. The Bosch bench drill and the metal-room Arboga E100 have separate pages.

14 October 2026 — G2512 identification and pedal operation recorded

The machine is an Arboga G2512, number 191630, with manual feed and twelve spindle speeds from 200 to 3,500 rpm. Speed selection uses change gears and two mechanical gearbox ranges.

The foot pedal is a one-press start control; it does not need to be held down to keep the motor running. Stop with the head switch at 0 and wait for complete standstill before access or adjustment.

The nameplate and full speed chart are attached to the machine page.

23–25 November 2025 — Drill-press surfaces cleaned; lubricant unresolved

The community-day follow-up says cast-iron drill-press surfaces were cleaned. Gear lubrication was not completed, because the suitable lubricant was unknown. A general “good to go” comment appears earlier in the same thread, but does not close the specific lubrication task. Status: generic drill-press report; its cast-iron/gear references fit the floor-standing drill, but no photo or exact model identifies it exclusively. Confirm which machine and obtain the right lubrication schedule/product. Full maintenance thread, detailed task report.

15 October 2025 — Drill-table/fence proposal

A member proposed a drill-press table with fence and stops. Replies requested a drawing, removable-fence provision and backing board. Status: proposal only, not a confirmed installed Arboga accessory; the generic drill-press wording does not establish which drill. Full proposal discussion.

28–30 April 2025 — No-start issue resolved by foot pedal

The parent photo clearly shows the green floor-standing drill. A member could not start it; the reply pointed to the foot pedal, after which the original reporter said it turned on. Another member suggested labelling the switch to mention the pedal after the same issue recurred. Status: control misunderstanding resolved, not an electrical repair. A label's installation is not reported. Full thread.

20 November 2024 — Spindle did not turn; problem solved

A member tried the head switch and pedal but the spindle did not move. The replies considered a supply issue and incomplete gear engagement, then the final reply says the problem was solved. Status: resolved as reported, without a confirmed final diagnosis or details of the work. Do not turn the guesses or a phone walkthrough into a general wiring/selector recipe. Full thread.

28 May 2024 — Moved into the new Wood room; anchoring incomplete then

The room-development announcement places the drill in the new room and explicitly warns it was not yet bolted to the floor. The photo shows the same green floor-standing machine beside the Felder extractor and central pillars. Status: dated relocation; no floor-anchoring completion is recorded in the full thread. Verify present securing and stability rather than assuming it remains unbolted or has since been secured. Full move/installation discussion.

Historical installation photograph; surrounding dust, loose materials and machine positioning are not an approved operating setup. The second attachment in this thread shows an extraction gate rather than a second drill.

16 February 2021 — New drilling plate fitted in the old room

A room-maintenance report says the drill press received a new drilling plate. The attached photograph identifies the same green floor-standing drill and shows a flat sacrificial board over its circular table, alongside the dust-collection nozzle. Status: installed as reported then; the photograph does not establish that the board or nozzle remains available or is suitable for today's job. Verify the present table/backing-board arrangement and secure work independently. Original report.

28 January 2021 — Drill press anchored in the old room

The maintenance report says the drill press and lathe had been bolted down, using brass expansion inserts and M10 bolts. The replies discuss the old room's floor thickness. Status: anchoring completed as reported for that installation. The machine later moved in May 2024, when floor anchoring was explicitly incomplete; this 2021 report cannot confirm present anchoring or prescribe fasteners for the new floor. Full anchoring thread.

2019 — Purchase record

The earlier machine page records purchase by Makerspace in 2019, without an exact date, model or service record. This fact is retained as history rather than a present machine specification. Machine page.

Adding an entry

Record the date, symptom, work performed, parts used, result and remaining checks. Include photographs and a link to the source message or service document. Describe any test and who performed it. Keep unresolved faults visible on the machine and the main guide; do not treat a dated working test as a permanent certification.
