Numbers are gear tooth counts. Match the range lever to the symbol on the plate. Get the gear change demonstrated first.

  1. Fit the gears in positions A and B and engage them fully. Don't force anything.

  2. Set the range lever.

  3. Remove loose gears and tools, refit the cover.

  4. Brief test run with everyone clear. Stop on noise or vibration.

Safety

  • Eye and hearing protection. No gloves. Secure hair, sleeves, jewellery.

  • Clamp the work and the vise to the table.

  • Backing board under through-holes. Keep the bit clear of the vise, clamps and table.

  • Support long stock at table height.

  • Remove the chuck key before starting.

  • If the bit catches: stop and wait — never grab spinning work.

  • Power off for bit changes, speed changes, table adjustment, jams and cleaning.

How to use

  1. Power off: fit the bit, tighten the chuck.

  2. Clamp work and backing board. Lock the table.

  3. Lower the stationary bit to the mark, then raise it.

  4. Set the depth stop. Test on scrap.

  5. Head switch to I, press the pedal once. Wait for full speed.

  6. Feed steadily. Ease off as the bit breaks through. Retract regularly on deep holes.

  7. Raise the bit, head switch to 0, wait for stop.

Larger bits and hole saws need lower speed and firmer clamping.
