Maintenance and repairs log — Bosch PBD 40
Repair and maintenance history for the Bosch PBD 40. Routine checks, cleaning and operating instructions are on the machine page.
Dated reports describe what was known at the time. A reported repair does not establish the present condition of every part. Outstanding checks are collected in Woodshop open questions.
29–30 August 2024 — Missing height-lock handle repaired
The Bosch's height-adjustment locking handle was missing. Temporary suggestions included pliers/a wrench, but the thread then reports the repair completed on 30 August. Its photo shows a cross-bolt handle fitted to the Bosch column lock. Status: repair confirmed at that date; replacement part specification and a recorded load/locking test were not supplied. Do not use the earlier improvised tool advice as the normal control procedure. Full report and closure, repair photo.

Historical repair photograph. The other photo in this thread shows a wooden knob on the yellow planer and is not a PBD repair photo.
Still to verify: check that the present control locks the head securely and the brake holds it during instructed height adjustment. Record fitted handle/thread/part details and any further repair.
13–16 June 2024 — Bench setup and model confirmed
The Bosch bench drill was described as newly accessible on a workbench after years in storage because the previous room lacked space. A reply confirms it came with equipment bought from THINGS when that workshop closed. The front label in the photograph clearly reads PBD 40; the earlier wiki's PSD 40 entry is a typo.
The local discussion highlights adjustable rpm and digital depth display. The photograph shows the handwheel, quick-action clamp, laser cross and work light. A member's “next to no wobble” impression is not a measured accuracy or permanent runout guarantee. Discussion/photo.

2019 — Earlier acquisition record
The original machine page records a Makerspace purchase in 2019. The 2024 discussion supplies THINGS provenance but no exact acquisition date. Keep the earlier year as an unverified local record until purchase documents are found. Earlier machine page.
Adding a maintenance entry
Record the date, symptom, work performed, parts used and result. Include useful photos and a source or contact for follow-up. Distinguish completed repairs from proposed work and confirm the result with an appropriate test.
