Woodshop — Open questions

This document collects details that need a physical check or a decision by the woodshop room developers. It accompanies the Wood pages researched on 13 October 2026. It does not change access permissions or certify the condition of a machine.

Room and shared systems

  • Confirm the complete machine-authorization list: room quiz 11, full Hammer course 18 with its practical test, EJCA bandsaw quiz 5 and router course 15 are documented. Clarify whether bandsaw quiz 5 covers the newer Basato and whether any other machines require additional authorization.

  • Record normal Felder gate operation: any open wired gate starts extraction; closing all gates stops the blower, and the collector's control power stays enabled. Current gate photographs are on the machine page.

  • Demonstrate the exact controls, verify last-gate stopping and restart prevention, and document any delay against the current room course. Gate closure does not isolate power for cleaning or repairs.

  • Verify the physical bag-fill limit, sensor calibration and matched replacement-bag stock to the left of the extractor. Visual bag checks remain required because the current collector runs regardless of indicated dust level. See the Felder guide and log.

  • Check the current emergency stops, room power isolation, fire extinguishers and exit routes; add labelled photographs.

  • Confirm the ceiling air filter remote location, timer settings and routine cleaning responsibility.

  • Confirm the current glue-drying area, permitted duration and material storage policy. The old intro's “everything on the floor is free” wording conflicts with the member-storage rules; use only designated free material meanwhile.

  • Verify the channel: #trärummet-woodroom is the public Wood channel reviewed on 13 October 2026. Existing #trärummet labels are shorthand.

  • Confirm the current room developer contacts.

  • Add an updated overview photograph showing the Basato 5-2 and any changes to machine positions.

  • Resolve the room's “some plastics” allowance against the Felder collector's wood-only restriction; publish materials and collection methods for each machine.

  • Review the lathe-sanding extraction exemption and dust protection.

  • Reconcile the archived room page's 2021 upgrade list against the present equipment: table-saw zero-clearance inserts; EJCA wheel balance and under-table collection; drill-press anchoring, upper-cover fastener and segmented extraction hose; lathe tool racks and lighting; jointer motor. Record which items were completed or superseded rather than treating the old list as current faults.

  • Identify the handheld track saw and publish its blade requirements and instructions: Makita SP6000. Two Makita rails are stored on the wall. Current condition and repairs are recorded on its machine page and child log.

  • Identify the photographed Bosch GST 90 E and publish its T-shank blade fitting and operating notes on Jigsaws, using the 13 October 2026 photo and Bosch manual.

  • Read the complete Makita 4351-series suffix from its damaged plate or another reliable identifier; select its exact manual and confirm blade-holder details. Check for other jigsaws to complete the current inventory.

  • Measure the Makita guide rails and identify their connectors and clamps. Check their alignment, fit and smooth travel when the SP6000 returns to use.

Table saw — Hammer K3 Winner

  • Record the serial number, build year, motor rating, voltage and installed sliding-table/fence options.

  • Measure the installed rip capacity. Legacy wiki says 850 mm; a standard manufacturer configuration is 800 mm. Confirm safe support for large sheet goods.

  • Inventory the current Hammer blades, blade-change permissions and brake pin-hole pattern. July 2025 calls the general-purpose blade 46T while older notes say 48T; read the actual blades. Confirm hold-downs and roller-support locations reported in the log.

  • Review the January 2025 table-saw history alongside later repairs: extraction-adapter replacement and subsequent tilt/contact issues, cleaning improvements and fence-lock repairs are recorded in the Hammer log.

  • Check present blade-height/tilt clearance, extraction connection, secure fence/hold-down locking, riving-knife retention and unidentified carriage parts. Dated repairs do not close later recurrence.

  • Confirm scoring-unit installation/use and which trained members may adjust it.

Planer / jointer — Scheppach HMC 3200

  • Identify the spiral-head supplier and installation: Sheartak, 55 inserts, fitted in February 2022. The manufacturer-linked installation write-up is for the makerspace's 1994 machine; see the HMC page and log.

  • Record the machine identity and build year: HMC 3200, article 62410000, number 9372, year 1994. The original nameplate and machine photographs are on the HMC page.

  • Record the replacement motor's installed plate and the custom Sheartak cutterhead drawing, permissible speed and drive details.

  • Verify operating capacities after the retrofit. Original manual specifies 320 mm jointing width, 310 mm thicknessing width, and 5–180 mm thicknessing height; the old local page's 320 mm width / 4 mm minimum thickness should be corrected or substantiated.

  • Obtain the cutterhead insert specification and tightening range: 15 × 15 × 2.5 mm R150, 5.42–5.88 Nm (48–52 in-lb). The machine page links the Sheartak instructions; maintainers must use matching inserts and screws.

  • Confirm the January 2025 gear/chain replacement: a 7 February 2025 follow-up reports it completed. Later feed repairs, including 5 September 2026 gears/belt work, are recorded in HMC log.

  • Record the requested post-September feed-belt tension/gear-alignment recheck and investigate 2 October 2026 fence squareness differing between infeed and outfeed tables; verify current safe function.

  • Photograph each mode's dust hood/adaptor, interlock engagement, feed lever and controls; verify the locally described brown/yellow collection parts still match.

  • Confirm who may rotate/replace carbide inserts and maintain the transmission; inventory the spare inserts, feed belt and bearings. Check the archived 8 × 340 mm / article 50-2631 feed-belt and 1012 needle-bearing references against the fitted parts.

Wood lathe — Solberga SVT 600

  • Obtain the operating and service manual for this machine's serial number from Kilebrands / Solberga; no matching public operating manual has yet been verified.

  • Record the nameplate, build year, motor ratings, centre height, distance between centres, taper and chuck/faceplate mounting. Current manufacturer specifications may describe a different version.

  • Confirm present speed calibration and the electrical range-switch sequence. The legacy local machine photograph supports range I 390–1300 rpm and range II 780–2600 rpm, and its plate requires mechanical variator changes while running. The current manufacturer's 390–2500 rpm specification describes a different/current version; obtain this serial's operating manual.

  • Photograph and label the normal stop, emergency stop, motor-range switch, variator control, spindle lock, tailstock locks and tool-rest locks.

  • Verify drawbar/chuck removal and refitting procedure. The old hammer-to-release description needs a checked machine-specific method before becoming an operating instruction.

  • Check lathe tailstock alignment, centres, faceplate fittings and suitable screws. The documented chuck is Axminster Clubman SK100, taper-mounted with a required drawbar; the faceplate cannot remain fitted beneath it. Verify its July 2026 stiffness report, the June speed-lock report and April variator-bearing replacement status. Tailstock locking was repaired with lever up to move/down to lock; test current function. See Solberga log.

  • Confirm the correct lubrication products/points and belt sizes for this serial. Legacy notes list upper A48/lower A42 belts and 6202 bearings, without a factory service source.

  • Confirm effective lathe turning/sanding collection and approved methods for fully cured epoxy/wood pieces. Green wood is locally allowed, with wet chips kept out of the shared extractor, a separate collection arrangement and drying/protection of the lathe surfaces.

Belt sander — Scheppach BSM 2010

  • Record the installed nameplate from the photographs supplied 14 October 2026: BSM 2010, article 81040000, number 9540 (unlabelled plate entry), year 2002, 3/PE 400 V AC, 50 Hz, 6.10 A, P1 3.60 kW input / P2 2.90 kW output, 2780 min⁻¹, 11 m/s belt speed, and 2000 × 150 mm belt. The original plate photograph is attached to the machine page.

  • Check the operating manual and parts list against article 81040000, number 9540 and year 2002 before version-specific service or parts ordering.

  • Check the fitted belt's marking, grit and condition against the 2000 × 150 mm size confirmed on the plate. The wall holder immediately above the sander and black auxiliary hood on the wall to the right are confirmed in the photographs supplied 14 October 2026; count usable stock and verify its grit. Local shared-stock policy is 60 and 120 grit. Demonstrate the auxiliary hood's safe positioning and collection; verify clearance for every intended operation.

  • Verify table/stop clearance, safe small-piece holders and extraction in each intended sanding position.

  • Resolve the manufacturer's warning that extraction is unavailable with the longitudinal table at 45°. Publish an effective local adaptation before using that configuration in this room.

  • Confirm who may change belts and the shared parking convention. The manual recommends releasing tension after work; make clear how the next user checks/restores it before starting.

Bandsaw — EJCA BA45 (narrow blade)

  • Record serial/model and nameplate ratings; verify usable cutting height and throat capacity on this older machine. Check the archived 446 × 32 mm wheel dimensions and 1.0 hk motor rating against the actual wheels and motor plate.

  • Record the actual installed narrow blade's width, tooth pitch and condition. EJCA's primary blade list specifies nominal 3090 mm for BA45, with listed 6, 10, 12 and 16 mm widths. Do not reuse the old 3086 × 19 mm resaw-blade ordering note without verification.

  • Document the EJCA's presently fitted upper and lower replacement guide/bearing assemblies, secure mountings, clearance and adjustment procedure. Inspect and replace the broken wooden insert/damaged table opening reported on 20 September 2026, and close the August/September wobble reports with a completed setup/test record. See EJCA log.

  • Check wheel tyre condition, alignment/balance, stop/brake behaviour and the 2018 retrofit controls. Do not assume door interlocks exist.

  • Identify replacement wheel bearings and lubrication method for the present parts; verify spare stock rather than applying old greasing instructions blindly.

  • Publish which plastics/foams are permitted and the approved collection method; the legacy material allowance is too broad and the shared Felder extractor specifies wood-only waste.

Bandsaw — Scheppach Basato 5-2 (wide blade)

  • Confirm the required authorization for this newer saw, including whether the existing bandsaw course (quiz 5) covers it; room course quiz 11 remains required.

  • Recover a labelled local Basato 5-2 photograph and acquisition history: the 8 May 2026 arrival picture is in Basato log.

  • Record the installed Basato nameplate from member-supplied photographs on 14 October 2026: article 73240902, serial 5759, build year 2005, 3/PE 380–400 V, 50 Hz, 6.0 A, P1 3.8 kW / P2 2.9 kW, rotational-speed entry 2690 min⁻¹, blade length 3430 mm and width range 6–25 mm. Photos and transcription are on the machine page.

  • Confirm year/serial applicability of the manual linked by Scheppach for article 73240902 before detailed drive or electrical maintenance.

  • Record the present Basato wide blade's width, thickness, pitch, tension and supplier. 25 mm is a June 2026 commissioning report, not today's verified blade. Inspect current and spare blades after the 20 September wide-blade crack report and record a completed replacement/test; don't assume the suggested over-tension diagnosis was established.

  • Check extraction connection and gate, door interlocks, guide assemblies, tyre condition, stopping/brake behaviour and supplied push stick/supports.

  • Record the published nominal speeds 800 / 1200 m/min for article 73240902: Scheppach specifications list 800 and 1200 with inconsistent unit/min/max labels; WGM's same-order listing explicitly states m/min, and the installed 2005 plate marks 1200 m/min. The main guide now uses 800/1200 m/min as its nominal reference.

  • Identify and record the actual pulley/belt arrangement and currently selected speed. Reconcile the attached manual's 460 / 775 m/min values with the product specifications and plate, and obtain instructions applicable to article 73240902, serial 5759, year 2005. Confirm who may change speed, the blade or shared fence setup; the published specifications and photographs do not establish today's selected running speed.

  • Document the actual infeed/outfeed supports and resawing workholding, plus the shared blade-tension parking convention.

Sliding mitre saw — Bosch GCM 12 GDL

  • Record the article number/revision, serial, nameplate rating and actual installed blade diameter, bore, tooth count and condition. Current European reference is 305 mm / 30 mm; overseas variants differ.

  • Verify actual cutting capacity for this revision. The 2024 manual lists 104 × 341 mm at 0°/0°; the 2011 edition listed 104 × 335 mm. Check the safe envelope and support rather than assuming every version is identical.

  • Resolve the supplied-clamp minimum stock wording: English p. 40 and Swedish p. 143 of the 2024 manual print 160 × 335 mm (length × width), also present in older editions. Obtain manufacturer clarification and publish approved small/narrow-stock clamping methods; do not silently change this to 35 mm.

  • Confirm the local clamp inventory, stop arrangements, base fasteners and alignment of the bench support surfaces with the saw table.

  • Check lower-guard return, glide-arm locks, fence clearances at mitre/bevel angles, insert condition and extraction adapter/hose.

  • Document the current GCM 12 GDL bench setup with three photographs: wooden auxiliary fence faces and throat insert, clamp, side support surfaces and extraction hose. The former GCM8 SJL was sold and is no longer at the makerspace.

  • Confirm Bosch GCM authorization, blade-change permissions and parking/transport-lock convention. Verify the photographed wooden auxiliary fence/throat insert's condition and safe clearances at all intended mitre/bevel settings, and whether the fractured factory fence was replaced. July 2025 temporary repair and December alignment work are in Bosch GCM log.

Table saw — 2026 course and video review

  • Complete the portal's missing instructions for booking the practical test with a course leader. Quiz 18 explicitly requires the practical test after the online stage; it is not optional.

  • Confirm the current blade-height/angle parking instruction. The 2026 video specifies about 20 mm blade projection during use but omits the older zero-settings reset.

  • Confirm blade-change permissions and the isolation procedure taught alongside the three-position access lever. The video demonstration does not itself establish electrical isolation.

  • Confirm the guard arrangement for all demonstrated operations. The 2022 manual requires guarding; the video often shows the overhead guard absent. Guard clearance and blade projection are different measurements.

  • Document an approved thin-strip/veneer method retaining guards and 150 mm hand clearance, and review the hand-catching demonstration around 7:40 before adopting it as written novice guidance.

  • Identify the height/tilt mechanism lubricant and who may carry out the maintenance shown around 9:04; do not infer the product from an unreadable bottle.

  • Verify the roller-support location mentioned at 6:24, the present blade inventory and current fence/tilt-lock arrangements.

Router table — 2.2 kW spindle and Wnew lift

  • Recover the September 2024 router spindle nameplate: G-PENNY GST2.2C-80-24K, 380 V / 2.2 kW / 5.5 A / ER20 / 400 Hz / 24,000 rpm. Photographs are in router log.

  • Compare the current spindle label, record serial/replacements, verify rotation and continuous cooling-safe speed range, obtain its exact manual and approve the hand-fed cutter envelope.

  • Verify the knob-to-rpm calibration. The legacy 8,000–24,000 rpm range does not establish reliable indicated speed or a safe continuous minimum for the air-cooled spindle.

  • Recover the September 2024 VFD nameplate: Huanyang HY02D243B, three-phase 380 V input, photographed in the router log.

  • Compare its current label/revision and obtain the applicable manual. Verify configured limits, stop wiring, restart prevention and emergency-stop/isolation behaviour; keep a maintainer's parameter backup. Historical settings/wiring are not a current recipe.

  • Test current stopping and restart behaviour after the July 2026 intermittent no-start reports; the April connector repair was reported working but does not resolve later symptoms. Publish normal/emergency stopping and rundown behaviour. Never hand-start an energised spindle or repeatedly energise a stalled/hot motor.

  • Inspect the spindle threads/nut repaired on 5 January 2025, confirm the correct nut type and runout, and obtain the component manufacturer's torque requirement.

  • Reconcile the 5 October 2026 reported change from 50 to 40 Nm with the approved torque for the installed nut/spindle, actual wrench adjustment, model, insert geometry, calibration and label. The cause of three broken shanks was disputed and not conclusively resolved; the current wall-storage photograph still shows a 50 Nm label. Members must not alter the wrench or use a conflicting setting.

  • Record the router-table drawer's ER20 holder: 6, 8 and 12 mm collets and matching dust-sealed nuts, plus 1/8-, 1/4- and 1/2-inch collets. Dust-sealed metric nuts are only for their exact matching metric size; all imperial sizes use the universal nut. The holder photo and matching table are on the router-table page.

  • Inspect current collets, nuts, spindle threads and rated clamping ranges. A 1/4-inch collet is now present in the holder, but the inventory does not identify it as the August replacement or record its inspection.

  • Identify the lift and obtain its manual: Wnew Heavy Duty Router Lift with Aluminium Router Table Insert Plate, supplier product 1963502, with the 107-to-80 mm adapter ring for the 80 mm diameter spindle, confirmed by a member. Wnew manufacturer manual, Version 1-1/2021 is attached to the machine page.

  • Check the installed lift mounting, plate levelling, height-retention adjustment and crank/accessory inventory against the Wnew manual. Its nominal stroke is 100 mm; record usable travel and clearances in this table.

  • Document the Enjoywood 700 mm adjustable fence with flip-down stops, stored below the table, and Enjoywood coping sled, guided by the new front rail and stored beside the torque wrenches. Shared router bits are in the drawers below the belt sander; ER20 collets/nuts are in the router-table drawer. Current photos are on the machine page.

  • Check the fence faces, guard, insert rings, featherboards, push blocks and jigs; document approved small-stock, end-grain, stopped-groove and template procedures.

  • Check the gate labels, table/fence collection, cooling airflow clearance and approved plastic collection method.

  • Record any current booking, cost or logging rules and maintenance responsibilities. Room course 11 and router course 15 are already documented.

Dust extractor — Felder RL 125: remaining service checks

  • Verify the 4 October 2026 bin-rivet repair and sealant cure, then record a completed bin-seal/bag-retention suction check. Inspect the inlet/outlet paths and any persistent bag-lift sound; do not use improvised weights.

  • Check right-side cleaning-handle travel stops, brush engagement (including the low left brush reported in April), and the September chip-packed filter/sprinkler area. Record completed cleaning/repair and a functional check; never force the handle.

  • Document the installed automatic/manual sidewall sprinkler heads, approximately 20-litre water discharge, collector shutdown and Slack alert; attach the original discharge-test clip and commissioning photograph in the Felder guide/log.

  • Record the current ultrasonic/LED guide and absence of dependable full-bin shutdown: green OK, yellow/red change bag, broad yellow blocks insert/lock bin, small yellow blocks wipe sensor. The July strip connector was reconnected.

  • Verify fill-sensor accuracy and calibration, sprinkler cleanliness, fire-system pressure/water readiness and shutdown/notification operation. Record the exact installed head/heat rating, approved charge pressure, refill/reset procedure and responsible maintainers/test schedule. Keep the November 2025 full-bin shutoff behaviour out of current operator instructions.

  • Confirm correct replacement bags, present stock and demonstrated bag fitting. See Felder maintenance log.

Drill press — Arboga G2512

  • Record model G2512, machine number 191630, motor plate and all 12 spindle speeds, 200–3,500 rpm. The four photographs and gear chart are on the machine page.

  • Record the fitted chuck and spindle/arbor details and obtain a complete G2512 operating manual. The uploaded manufacturer archive is a parts/service reference with G2508 operating pages; select model and serial-specific drawings.

  • Verify secure anchoring, table locking and chuck condition after the 2024 room move. The January 2021 old-room anchoring does not establish today's installation.

  • Record the pedal behaviour: one press starts the motor, with the head switch at I; use the head switch at 0 to stop.

  • Demonstrate the current change-gear and mechanical-range procedure, head/table positioning and chuck/arbor handling; verify lubrication products and points. See Arboga G2512 maintenance log.

Precision drill press — Bosch PBD 40

  • Correct the old PSD 40 typo from a legible local photo and attach the official PBD 40 manual.

  • Record the installed article number and verify stable bench mounting, work clamp, height-lock/brake function and repaired cross-bolt handle. Check bit capacity and digital-depth accuracy for the intended work.

  • Reconcile the older 2019 purchase note with June 2024 THINGS provenance if asset records require an exact acquisition history. See PBD 40 maintenance log.

Scroll saw — Cocraft HS85-D

  • Attach the official HS85-D manual; documented local and manufacturer blade length is 133 mm.

  • Read the actual model/article plate, verify stable mounting, guard, stop control, blade holders and tensioning. Check whether the matching pinless-blade adapters are present; the 130 mm suggestion was untested.

  • Confirm current blade types/stock and bench location. See scroll-saw maintenance log.

Jigs for woodworking

  • Identify and approve the present Hammer-compatible sleds, thin-rip jig, stops and hold-downs. The old two-slot sled needs checked adaptation; the old 1/8-inch blade-height recipe is superseded by the current course. No completed adaptation was recorded.

  • Identify the handheld router used with the MaKoen circle jig, match its marked hole pattern/manual and verify the complete mounting-screw bag and original sole-plate hardware.

  • Verify the Clas Ohlson 30-4751 / 91800 dovetail jig, correct cutter/guide hardware, template, height setup and supported stock dimensions. The English and Swedish manual specifications differ; the separate Festool 486033 30 mm copying ring is not its prescribed substitute.

  • Locate the complete table-router finger-joint jig, establish cutter/indexing/assembly details and approve workholding and guarding for the current Wnew/spindle installation.

  • Verify the thin-veneer planer carrier's retention, dimensions and cleanup method before use; it does not waive HMC minimum-stock requirements.

  • Confirm current Wolfcraft drilling-jig, spline-jig and biscuit-joiner locations. Distinguish proposed dowel-making/tenon/taper jigs from tools actually completed and available. See jig maintenance log.

Portable wood tools — October 2026 photo audit

  • Identify five sanders and publish grouped instructions and abrasive sizes on Handheld sanders: Bosch GEX 125-1 AE, Makita 9911, BO5031, BO3710 and Metabo FMS 200 Intec.

  • Identify the Bosch PMF 180 E Multi and Bosch AdvancedMulti 18; document their different accessory holders on Oscillating multi-tools.

  • Confirm present storage positions, shared abrasive/blade stock, dust bags/boxes and extractor adapters. Check the fitted BO3710 pad and punch plate; do not assume the optional hook-and-loop pad is fitted.

  • Check the AdvancedMulti battery/charger inventory and current condition, and record any locally required extra instruction beyond the room course.

  • Inspect current cables, switches, pads/holders and guards and record faults or repairs. Nameplate photographs identify models but do not establish functional condition.
