Help / faults

Slack #trärummet-woodroom

Cracked blades reported 20 Sep 2026 — the fitted wide blade and a spare. Check the blade before use and never run a cracked blade.

Materials

  • Yes: clean, dry wood without nails, screws, grit, loose knots or splits. Glue fully cured.

  • No: pressure-treated wood, metal, stone.

  • Anything else: ask first.

  • Round stock only in an anti-roll jig. Small pieces need a jig or push stick.

Setup

  • Controls: red/green buttons on the front of the left column.

  • Table tilt: scale and handle at the rear.

  • Extraction: hose on the lower rear port — check suction before cutting.

  • The machine stands on timber blocks — check that it's stable.

  • Spare blades: box on the high shelf. Spare drive belt: locked Wood maintenance drawer.

Safety

  • Eye and hearing protection. No gloves while cutting (gloves are fine for handling a loose, stationary blade).

  • Doors closed, guards fitted, extraction on. Never bypass the door switches.

  • Upper guide as close to the work as possible (about 3–6 mm).

  • Keep hands out of the cutting line. Use push sticks near the blade.

  • No tight curves with the wide blade.

  • Power off for all tracking, guide, tension and speed adjustments.

  • Stop immediately for clicking, cracking, abnormal noise, wandering or heavy vibration.

  • Never leave it running unattended.

How to use

  1. Power off: check blade, tension, tracking, guides (rollers turn freely, don't touch the teeth), table insert, guards, doors and extraction.

  2. Lock the table and fence, arrange support, set the upper guide.

  3. Straight cuts: use the rip fence. Keep the stock flat and supported.

  4. Start extraction, then the saw. Wait for full speed.

  5. Feed steadily without forcing, twisting or pushing sideways.

  6. If it binds: hold the work still, stop the saw, wait for standstill, then remove the work.

  7. Stop, power off, clean up (vacuum and brush). Lower the guide.

Resawing: the board needs a flat face against the fence and a straight edge on the table. Use support and push aids, a blade with coarse enough teeth, and light feed. Stop if it drifts, burns or stalls — don't force it. 300 mm is the geometric limit, not a guarantee.

Angled cuts: power off, support the table while adjusting, tighten both table locks. When tilted, put the fence on the lower side of the table. Get instruction first.

Troubleshooting

Problem

Action

Won't start

Check stop buttons and that the doors are closed. Don't bypass interlocks.

Cut wanders, blade slips or leaves the wheels

Power off. Blade, tension, guides, tracking or fence need checking.

Burning or hard feed

Dull blade, wrong pitch, resin or wrong speed.

Work binds

Hold it, stop and wait.

Clicking, vibration, damaged blade

Stop, power off, report.

Poor extraction

Stop cutting and fix/report.

Upper thrust roller rubs the guard

Stop and report — this has happened before.

Maintenance

  • Clean resin and dust with the saw unplugged. No flammable solvents near the machine.

  • Inspect blade, guides, insert and tyres.

  • Too much tension breaks blades early.

  • Reset upper and lower guides after a blade change — they must not pinch the blade or touch the teeth.

  • Blade and belt changes, guide setup and internal repairs: maintainers only. Electrical work: electrician only.

  • Speed change requires power off. The selected speed setting is not marked — check with a maintainer.

  • Maintenance and repairs log
