Maintenance and repairs log — Makita SP6000

Maintenance, repair and accessory history for the Makita SP6000 plunge saw. Routine checks, cleaning and operating instructions are on the machine page.

12 October 2026 — Replacement depth-stop part ordered

The replacement part for the failed depth stop was ordered. Installation is still pending.

Status: do not use until the depth stop is repaired and checked. After repair, check that the stop clamps securely and holds its setting through repeated plunges, then verify the actual depth with a controlled test cut.

9 October 2026 — Depth limiter failed

The depth limiter stopped holding. The receiving screw-hole threads appeared stripped. A replacement part was identified for ordering.

28 September 2026 — Rail play repaired and rubber edges renewed

The worn rail-fit guide holders on the saw were replaced, fixing the excessive sideways play. The remaining replacement holders were placed in the spare-parts drawer.

Both rails received new rubber edges. Their aluminium still has some damage, but the rails remain usable. Check smooth travel, rail alignment and the cutting-edge reference before each job.

7–11 September 2026 — Worn guide holders identified and ordered

The adjustable guide holders on the saw were found to be worn out and responsible for the excessive play on the rail. Replacement holders were ordered on 11 September and fitted on 28 September.

5 September 2026 — Rail, blade and tracking problems reported

Both rails were described as heavily damaged, the blade appeared worn, and the saw had excessive play on the rail. Wavy cuts were also noticed. The later guide-holder replacement fixed the rail play, and the rubber edges were renewed on 28 September.

3 August 2026 — Depth-stop wear and temporary fix

The depth-stop fastening was worn. Two washers were added so the screw could engage farther into the receiving threads. This was a temporary measure; a permanent repair was still needed.

Do not repeat this workaround as an operating procedure. The later depth-stop failure and ordered replacement are recorded above.

28 June 2025 — Dust-collection and hose-guide upgrades

Plastic fittings were added to improve dust collection, together with a guide at the rail end to help prevent the hose catching during a cut. Check their presence, fit and clearance when setting up.

Adding a maintenance entry

Add dated entries above this section, newest first. Include the fault or check, work carried out, parts used and the result. For blade changes, record the blade and the rail/splinter-strip checks. For depth-stop or guide-holder repairs, record the holding, travel and test-cut results. State whether the saw is available for use or remains out of service.
