Module 2 — Rules summary

Module 2 · Rules summary

A short list of the rules in Module 2, to look back at. It is a reminder, not a replacement for the lessons: the quiz covers the whole module.

Materials

  • Each printer group has its own allow-list. Print only what's on that printer's list.

  • Never allowed: PVC, POM/acetal, water-soluble filament (PVA, BVOH and the like), any flexible filament, any glow-in-the-dark filament, and unidentified filament.

  • New material? Ask in Slack. You may print it once the developers have tested it and it's on the wiki.

  • Silk PLA: lower-row X2Ds and H2S. On the upper row, only Bambu PLA Silk+.

  • Filled filament (carbon fibre, glass fibre, wood, stone, metal): lower row and H2S only, and only if the base material is allowed there.

  • Sand carbon-fibre and glass-fibre parts wet, in a shallow tray of water.

Support and glue

  • Support material: breakaway support matched to the model material, or PLA and PETG supporting each other. Upper row: only Bambu Support for PLA.

  • AMS HT: nothing that Bambu's X2D compatibility guide rates "highly not recommended" or "unavailable" for the right nozzle.

  • Glue: Bambu Liquid Glue, on Textured PEI only. PETG always gets it.

Printers and AMS

  • Use an H2S only when the job needs its size.

  • Spools go in the AMS just before your print and come out after it. Never use an AMS just to dry filament.

Dryers

  • Prefer the S4 for PLA, PETG and their support filaments, and the Royal dryer for anything hotter. Anything over 70 °C goes in the Royal dryer.

  • If one dryer is busy, use the other at your filament's temperature.

  • First come, first served. You may add spools to a cycle that is already running, but don't change its settings while it runs.

Nozzles

  • Nozzle changes: H2S only, between 0.4 mm and 0.8 mm high-flow, and only if you know how.

  • Afterwards: set the new size on the screen and on the indicator, re-sync Bambu Studio, and put the old hotend in the drawer under the left H2S.

  • Swap back to 0.4 mm when your print is finished.

Faults

  • Clogs: the needle method, at about 10 °C above printing temperature, is fine. No open flame.

  • Screws out or wires off? Ask in Slack and wait for a room developer or board member to reply.

Everything in Module 1 still applies: nametag, one printer at a time, the whole first layer, bed levelling never off, moulded plastic spools, filament path left alone, plastic scrapers, clean up, LAN only.
