Bambu Lab X2D — Problems and fixes

Common problems on the Bambu Lab X2D and what to do about them. For fire, smoke or an electrical fault, and for a fault you can't fix, see the X2D page first.

What you may fix yourself

You may follow Bambu Lab's official troubleshooting guides, as long as the fix needs no screws removed and no wires disconnected. If it does, post in Slack and wait for a room developer or board member to reply before you start. Taking a PTFE tube off is fine when the official guide says so, as long as you put it back exactly as it was, pushed all the way in. Changing how filament is fed is never a fix.

What to do

A print has obviously failed

Anyone may stop it. Tag the owner in the Slack channel #3D-Skrivare, without a photo, and leave the failed print on its plate in the rack. Unload before taking their spool out.

The spool won't lift out of the AMS

The filament is still in the printer, so the job was cancelled or hit an error. Run Unload on the screen.

Filament will not feed in or out

Do not force it. Check the AMS light (Bambu Lab AMS 2 Pro — Problems and fixes, Bambu Lab AMS HT — Problems and fixes), or ask in Slack.

A weak or uneven line, or nothing comes out

Possibly a clogged nozzle. You may use Bambu's cleaning-needle method (the needles are in the drawer under the left H2S): set the nozzle to about 10 °C above the normal printing temperature, never higher (2.10 Faults, clogs, and how far you may go). Never remove the nozzle on an X2D. No open flame, so not the hex-key-and-lighter method. Bambu's X2D clogging guide also covers steps members may not do, so stop where it needs higher temperatures, tools or a nozzle change, and ask in Slack.

The extruder clicks about once a second and nothing comes out

A piece of filament is probably stuck in the gears. Fixing it means taking things apart, so ask in Slack.

An AMS light or message

A bad smell while printing ABS or ASA, or you feel unwell

Say so in the Slack channel #3D-Skrivare.
