Compressed air system
Shared compressed air for the whole building: outlets in the Metal, Wood, Big, Textile, Electronics, Sandblasting and Painting/wet rooms, plus the lasers and heat presses. Air is produced, stored and dried in the compressor room beside the storage room.
Compressor room with receiver, filter and MD20 dryer
Location | Compressor room, beside the storage room |
Pressure | 7.5 bar nominal at the compressor |
Maintainers | Erik Cederberg, Daniel Berglund |
Service | Aircenter AB (formerly Kista Kompressorservice), about once a year |
Components
In order along the air path:
Component | Notes |
|---|---|
7.5 kW, 1.38 m³/min. Left in AUTO. | |
Cyclone filter | At the compressor outlet. Timer-controlled condensate drain, replaced April 2025. |
Air receiver | 270 L vertical tank, ABAC V270 11B ZINC (model 4101000906, serial 2400165127), rated 11 bar. Safety valve 810 DN10, 11 bar. Timer-controlled condensate drain. Installed September 2024; approved by Dekra 1 December 2024. |
FM-0018C2 filter | Between receiver and dryer; removes oil and particles down to 1 µm. Delivered with the dryer, May 2022. |
Refrigerated dryer; removes moisture. | |
Treats oily condensate from both drains before disposal. Not in the air path. |
Using the air supply
Use a regulator and set the pressure to the tool's limit. Line pressure is too high for some tools, such as airbrushes.
Check hoses and couplings, connect securely and keep hoses out of walkways.
When done, close the supply to the tool and release its pressure before disconnecting.
Never point compressed air at people. It is not breathing air.
Leave the compressor and dryer controls alone unless coordinating a shutdown with the maintainers. Use the compressor's emergency stop only in a real emergency; a planned stop uses STOP / ARRESTO.
Troubleshooting
Symptom | Action |
|---|---|
One tool or room without air | Check that tool's shutoff, regulator, hose and coupling |
Several rooms without air | Check the receiver gauge and the compressor lamps. The main outlet valve is just right of the dryer; check it is open, unless it has been closed for maintenance. |
HIGH TEMP lamp on the compressor | See the compressor page. This is a recurring fault; the most recent trip was 14 October 2026. |
Pressure drops during use | A leak or a heavy user, such as the blast cabinet. Close unused supplies and report sustained heavy running. |
Water or oil coming out of outlets | Report it so the dryer, filters and drains can be checked |
The Redsail laser moves but won't fire when air pressure is too low.
Distribution
Mostly copper pipe. The layout below dates from the 2016 installation; rooms have changed since.
Area | Distribution |
|---|---|
Metal room / shelter | Blue 12 mm hose with brass tees and quick couplings |
Wood and Big rooms | Shared branch with wall and ceiling outlets, about 15 in total |
Textile and Electronics | Pipe through the stairwell shaft on the building's short side; branch shutoff outside the wood room |
Sandblasting room | Wall outlet and supply to the blast cabinet |
Wet / painting room | Outlet by the sink |
